January Events in Charleston

The new year is upon us and the active lifestyle we enjoy in Charleston is not going to slow down one little bit! This month there are so many fun things to do in and around the city. My absolute favorite is Charleston Restaurant Week! It is actually more than a week long as it runs through January 22nd. This is an AWESOME opportunity to get out and try new restaurants in this city FULL of amazing dining options. Our family also finds it to be a fantastic time to go out to restaurants that may normally be a little over budget and reserved for special occasion meals. You see, the restaurants that participate, and there sure are a lot, create a price fixed menu where you get a certain number of courses for a flat rate. For example, 3 courses for $20 or 4 courses for $40. You can learn more about the restaurants that participate and even view their menus by visiting their website Charleston Restaurant Week and they even have a smartphone app this year! Then, we end the month with another family favorite event- The Lowcountry Oyster Festival at Boone Hall Plantation. This event is family friendly, and it is a crowd pleaser! take my advice and get there early! We park in the lot on Rt. 17 (where the farm stand usually is set up) and take a tractor ride into the event in order to avoid traffic. Learn more about this fantastic festival on their site Lowcountry Oyster Festival My favorite events this month seem to be centered around food, but this festival also has great music and is a wonderful time to meet new people and enjoy the usually mild January weather!
